SpaceX: The town that Elon Musk built
A new city of SpaceX workers is emerging out of the Texas sand
It is just before midnight on a balmy June evening at Starbase, Elon Musk's SpaceX headquarters on the Texas coast, and Anthony Gomez is on rocket watch. We are driving along State Highway 4 – the "Highway to Mars", Gomez calls it – to see SpaceX move a Starship prototype to its test site.
"It is the apex of human technology," said Gomez, the 43-year-old managing partner of Rocket Ranch, a base camp of sorts for other rocket-watchers. "It represents the finest achievements of humanity."
